As an interpreter intern for the 2026 F1 Chinese Grand Prix in SEO, this journey has been full of small challenges and warm growth, making it an unforgettable experience.

On the first night, I made a little mistake—I wasn’t sure if Toby was staying at the same hotel as Crunch, so I mixed up their addresses and caused a small mix-up. I felt really flustered at first, but I quickly calmed down, reached out to both Toby and Crunch’s team to clarify, and adjusted the pick-up plan right away. After that, every day’s pick-up and drop-off went smoothly, even when there were last-minute changes like needing an extra car or adjusting the schedule. I was able to coordinate with the driver and the team calmly, making sure everything was handled properly.

Working with the Crunch team and fellow interpreters taught me so much: the importance of staying calm under pressure, the value of clear communication, and how to turn small mistakes into learning opportunities. Standing trackside, hearing the roar of the engines, and seeing everyone work together to make the race run smoothly, I realized that my job wasn’t just about translation—it was about being the reliable link that kept everything connected.

This internship gave me more confidence in my problem-solving and language skills, and a deeper love for F1. I’m so grateful for this chance to grow, and I’ll carry these lessons with me into my future career.

Interpreter for Aston Martin in 2026 China Grand Prix

 

Serving as an interpreter for the F1 event has been an incredibly unforgettable and rewarding experience for me. I was mainly responsible for the pick-up and drop-off services for four racing cars and related staff. Every day, I got up extremely early and waited patiently with the drivers downstairs at the staff hotel, making sure every transportation schedule ran smoothly and on time.

Throughout the whole week, I was deeply impressed by the excellent teamwork and strong cohesion of our group. The vehicles drivers and the interpreters collaborated closely and efficiently. We were always ready to help each other, communicated in a friendly and warm way, and worked with great tacit understanding. We supported one another wholeheartedly and spent a meaningful and joyful week together.

This valuable experience allowed me to make many sincere and precious friendships. I am especially reluctant to part with our team leader Robbie, the hardworking drivers, and Sun, who was dedicated and responsible for the logistical support. Robbie was always reliable and supportive; whenever we faced difficulties or challenges, he patiently guided us and helped us solve problems promptly. The drivers were extremely hardworking and dedicated—they got up before dawn and worked late into the night without any complaints, ensuring the safe and punctual travel of everyone. Sun took meticulous care of all interpreters, thoughtfully preparing meals for us and considering everyone’s dietary preferences, which made us feel warm and cared for.

I also want to express my sincere gratitude to Monica for building such an outstanding, professional, and highly efficient SEO team. Under her excellent organization and leadership, the interpreters work proceeded in an orderly, smooth, and successful manner.

As the translator for Alonso, I had more opportunities to interact and communicate with his team members closely. To show my friendliness and respect, I learned a new Spanish sentence every day to greet them, which quickly shortened our distance. We shared pleasant and relaxing time during the morning and evening commutes. The team staff were kind, friendly, and humorous, and I built genuine friendships with them. They highly recognized my earnest, responsible, and careful work attitude, often praising my dedication and expressing sincere gratitude for my support.

The most memorable and touching moment happened on the last day. I prepared traditional Chinese gifts—Chinese knots and White Rabbit creamy candies for the team members to share a piece of Chinese culture. In return, I received a signed team hat from Fernando Alonso, as well as a racing helmet, a team backpack and other meaningful souvenirs from the team. When we said goodbye, I was so moved that I couldn’t help crying. Alonso gently sang a Spanish song to comfort me, and I hugged Fernando, Alberto and other team members tightly to say farewell.

This F1 interpreter experience is full of warmth, touching moments and precious memories. I am truly unwilling to part with everyone I have met here. I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to join the SEO team again next year, reunite with all my dear friends, and continue to contribute to this wonderful event.

As the roar of engines fades and the last colleague heads to the car, I finally have a moment to reflect on these past days—my time as a translator with the Aston Martin team.

My role wasn’t involved in the technical side of racing. Instead, I focused on daily coordination and communication: arranging vehicles, liaising with drivers, and making sure every pickup and drop-off went smoothly. I also helped with translation wherever needed, ensuring that language never became a barrier. These tasks may seem small, but they formed the backbone of each day’s operations. In the fast-paced world of F1, even a slight delay in transport can disrupt the entire schedule. I learned to stay organized under pressure and adapt quickly as plans changed.

This journey reminded me that a successful Grand Prix depends not only on speed on the track, but also on the seamless teamwork behind the scenes. Thank you and thank us for making this March so unforgettable.

Looking back on my experience as an interpreter for Aston Martin in F1, I can say it was truly bittersweet. The long hours—early mornings and late nights—were certainly challenging and sometimes exhausting. However, being part of such a fast-paced environment also brought a strong sense of fulfillment. What made it all worthwhile was the teamwork. Every time we solved a problem together, I felt a real sense of achievement.

I’ve learned that in a team, mutual support and clear communication are essential. We have to help each other without waiting to be asked, and speak openly even when things aren’t going perfectly. Problems will always come up—that’s part of racing—but they’re not something to fear. What matters is how we face them together.

Interpreter for BWT Alpine team in 2026 China Grand Prix

 

During my tenure as a translator for the Shanghai F1 team, my primary responsibility was coordinating transportation for team commuting and logistics, with a core focus on ensuring the efficient operation of the catering vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

Commuting Coordination: I scheduled daily vehicle dispatches with precision to ensure smooth transportation for team members to and from work.

Catering & Procurement: During the day, I assisted the head chef by driving the catering vehicle to local markets to procure fresh ingredients. I overcame language barriers to communicate effectively with suppliers, negotiated prices, and strictly controlled food quality and budget.

Dietary Management: I adjusted procurement lists based on the team’s dietary preferences (such as Western meal requirements for international members), ensuring that three daily meals were supplied on time and were nutritionally balanced.

Areas for Improvement:  Communication Protocols: I was initially unfamiliar with the team’s internal communication habits. This led to minor information discrepancies when conveying procurement requests early on, requiring repeated confirmations to avoid errors.

Proactive Engagement: My proactive communication with team members was insufficient. At times, I failed to obtain the next day’s schedule promptly, which prevented me from informing the drivers in advance. This indicates that there is still room to optimize service details.
